Candidate for Secretary:

Cassie Walden BSN RN CEN

I am passionate about the impact ENA has on emergency nurses, and want to share that opportunity with all.  My vision for Oklahoma ENA is to further make advancements in safety for nurses and patients, continue our mission of leading education, while incorporating fun and engaging opportunities for all generations by including technology in activities.  I appreciate your time in considering me to be your Oklahoma ENA Secretary.

As current Membership Chair, I take joy in encouraging and inspiring nurses of all generations to get involved.  You may have met me at Oklahoma Education Day, Membership Drives, out delivering candy during Emergency Nurses Week, or thanking our current members at skills fairs.  As current membership chair, Oklahoma ENA has met our goal of over 500 members, up from 300 members in just a few years.  You each have earned that goal, and I thank you!

I am intimately familiar with Oklahoma ENA bylaws, policies & procedures as Bylaws Chair.  I furthered my knowledge of 501©3 not-for-profit organizations, as Treasurer for Hi Plains Chapter of Texas ENA, maintaining a financial portfolio over 60,000k.

If you bestow the honor of electing me for secretary, I will continue to utilize technological advances of engaging emails and newsletters to reach members with the frontline information we need to provide best care to our patients.  My goal as Secretary is to implement conference call & webinar at each meeting, allowing members from all areas of the state to have an active role.

I will strive to benefit the Oklahoma Emergency Nurses association with my passion of encouraging additional nurses to become members, thereby, further increasing our delegate representation at the National Assembly, inspiring current members to take active roles in the organization, and advocating for us as Emergency Nurses in a world that all too often feels about the bottom dollar.

Emergency Nurses Association is here for us, and I would be honored to have the opportunity to contribute to our Oklahoma ENA success as your Secretary.Type your paragraph here.

Candidate for President-Elect:

Ann Hoit BSN, RN, CEN, CCRN

Throughout my Nursing career I have had the privilege to work in various capacities in the Emergency Department.  Not only have I had great mentors, but I have had the opportunity to mentor, share knowledge, and be an example for those just entering the profession.

This is an exciting time to be part of the Emergency Nursing Profession as well as a member of the Emergency Nurse Association since we can collaborate, share ideas and experiences with multi-generational colleagues.   I would expand and further develop a culture within the state council for members to mentor, refresh, and renew their spirit of Emergency Nursing.

I plan to continue the momentum of the Oklahoma State Council by sharing the benefits of membership, growing membership, expand member involvement on a variety of committees that are available.   I would reach out with planned activities and education to rural areas of the state, and I would also collaborate with our neighboring states to expand educational offerings.

I will foster opportunities for advocacy, and for safe practice within our state as well as on a national level.

I am honored to be part of a great organization and look forward to serving.

Candidate for Secretary:

Kim Hastings RN, CEN

I want to run for secretary because I enjoy being active on the state level within OKENA.  I enjoy the structure of keeping minutes and recording actions we take during meetings, translating this information into minutes and getting this information to our members in a concise clear manner.    I would like to set these goals for myself if elected:

1. I will have meeting minutes out to state board members within 2 weeks of our meeting dates for review.

 2. I would like to learn to update and maintain the OK-ENA website calendar so that it is kept up to date of our events/meetings upcoming.

 3. I plan to establish an OK-ENA secretary email where I can forward and receive correspondence with any members requesting minutes or information regarding OKENA.

4. I will be creating an electronic copy of all OKENA meeting minutes from previous years and making an additional file to be kept separately from my copy and keep it updated with new minutes quarterly.  I am planning to purchase the required program to do this on my computer.

I have greatly enjoyed my time as OKENA Secretary for the last 2 years, and would appreciate the opportunity to continue to serve our members to the best of my ability.  I feel that I have the knowledge of how the meeting minutes should follow the template laid out by ENA.ORG, I understand the dedication the position requires, I am also looking forward to increasing my job responsibilities to help the OKENA be successful and grow as a state chapter.  I feel the membership would benefit from having someone experienced in this position to continue providing up to date record keeping for the state chapter.  Thank you for your consideration.

Candidate for Secretary:

Heidi Gilbert BSN, RN, CEN, SANE

I have been a nurse for 20 years, focusing my career mainly in emergency and pre-hospital care of critical care patients.  I have been a sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE) for 8 years, and became coordinator of the Stillwater Medical Center SANE program in 2013.  I have a passion for emergency nursing, nursing education, and am a champion for domestic violence and sexual assault survivors.  For the last 2 years, I have been the Stillwater Medical Center Emergency Department Nurse Educator.

I have been an active member in the Emergency Nurse’s Association at the national and state level, serving on the ENA Trauma Committee for the last 3 years, as chairperson for 2016.  I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to help author four ENA publications that have been used to educate emergency nurses all over the country and internationally.  I also serve as secretary for the Regional Trauma Advisory Board (Region 2) and Payne County Sexual Assault Team (SART).  I produce a monthly education newsletter for our ED staff and I would love to adapt that idea into something for our ED nurses across the state.

It would be a great honor to serve as the Oklahoma ENA secretary.  I’m grateful for the welcoming spirit of our Oklahoma ENA members and have really enjoyed my time with the organization over the last year.  I would like to contribute however I can and believe my experience in my current position as educator, as well as my role in secretary in other organizations will lend well to this position.  Best of luck to everyone running!  Type your paragraph here.
